Privacy policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026
This policy is organized around three questions: what we know about you, what we don't, and what we'll never do with it. After that come the practical parts: who else sees your information, how long we keep it, and how to exercise your rights. Ruby and July LLC is responsible for everything on this page, and this is the notice Nevada law requires us to give you.

Privacy questions and requests go to the email above with "Privacy" in the subject line. That address is also our designated request address under Nevada law.
Part 1: What we know about you
If you've ordered: your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping address, what you bought and in what size, your payment confirmation, and what happened afterward: delivery, any return, any refund. We need all of it to do the job, and we keep it for as long as tax law requires us to keep the order.
If you've paid: the card type and the last four digits, and a confirmation that the payment went through. Not the card number. That goes from your browser straight to the payment processor's secure form and never touches our servers.
If you've asked us about sizing: the measurements and the size you told us, for as long as the conversation lasts. They aren't added to a profile and they're deleted with the support thread.
If you have an account: your email, an encrypted password, saved addresses and order history. Accounts are optional; guest checkout is identical.
If you've written to us: what you wrote, your email address, and any photos you attached. Kept for two years after the last message.
If you've browsed: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages and products you looked at, what you put in your cart, and whether you opened our emails or clicked our ads. How much of this exists depends on the cookie choices you make (Part 4).
From other companies: the payment processor's fraud-check result, the carrier's delivery status, and Shopify's technical logs about how the store is used.
Part 2: What we don't know, and don't want to
We don't collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, health information, biometric data or precise location. We don't infer race, religion, health or sexual orientation from anything we hold. If you mention a health reason in a sizing question, we use it only to answer and don't keep it. Please don't send us medical information or documents; we have no use for them.
We don't make decisions about you that are fully automated and have legal or similarly significant effects. The payment processor's fraud screening may decline a transaction on its own; if that happens, email us and a person will review it.
We don't track you across other websites ourselves. Advertising partners may, through cookies you've allowed, and Part 4 explains how to stop that.
Part 3: What we'll never do
Sell your personal information for money. We don't and never have.
Share it with other companies for their own marketing. Nobody gets your email address from us to sell you their products.
Email or text you marketing without a basis. Marketing email goes to people who opted in, or who bought from us where the law permits, and every email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately. Marketing texts go only to people who checked the SMS box; reply STOP to end them. Consent to marketing is never a condition of purchase. Order, shipping and refund messages are sent regardless, because we need them to complete your purchase. We follow the CAN-SPAM Act and the TCPA.
Hide the advertising trade-off. When advertising cookies are enabled, browsing data from our site reaches partners such as Google and Meta so we can measure and target ads, and California and several other states call that "sharing" or a "sale" even though no money is paid. You can turn it off in one click; see Part 4.
Keep your information longer than it's useful. Retention periods are in Part 6.
Part 4: Cookies and your advertising choices
| Type | What it does | Your choice |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Cart, checkout, login, security, remembering your cookie choice | Always on; the store can't work without them |
| Functional | Remembers preferences such as region and currency | Optional |
| Analytics | Measures traffic, pages and errors, for example through Google Analytics | Optional |
| Advertising | Measures our ads and shows you relevant ones elsewhere, through partners such as Google and Meta | Optional |
Choose what you allow in the banner on your first visit. Change it any time through the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer or in your browser. Blocking essential cookies stops checkout from working.
Third parties that set advertising cookies may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites when you use our site. To opt out of that, and of the "sale" or "sharing" of your information:
- click "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" in the footer of any page
- change your cookie preferences
- turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser; we honor it for that browser and device
- email support@rubyandjuly.com, our designated request address
Opting out affects browsing data only; it doesn't stop us from processing your order. We don't knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Part 5: Who else sees your information
Only the companies that help us run the store, and only what each needs for its part:
- Shopify, which hosts the store and processes payments through Shopify Payments. For services that run across many stores, such as Shop Pay and Shopify's fraud protection, Shopify is itself responsible for the data under its own consumer privacy policy.
- Other payment providers you choose at checkout, such as PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay
- Carriers and fulfillment partners, who receive your name, address, phone and email to deliver and send updates
- Email and SMS providers
- Analytics and advertising partners, such as Google and Meta, when your cookie settings allow it
- Accountants, lawyers and IT providers, for the records and systems the business needs
We also disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to a subpoena, court order or lawful government request, or to protect our rights, our customers or public safety. If the business is sold or merged, customer records transfer with it and the new owner takes on this policy.
Categories disclosed in the past 12 months, for the purposes above: identifiers (name, email, phone, address, IP address), customer records (order and payment confirmation), commercial information (purchase and support history), internet activity (browsing data on our site), and approximate location derived from IP address.
Some of our providers, including fulfillment partners, operate outside the United States, and your information may be processed in those countries to run the store and deliver your order.
Part 6: How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Orders, invoices, payment confirmations | 7 years, for tax and accounting |
| Return and dispute records | Until closed, then as long as a claim could be brought |
| Sizing questions | The duration of the conversation, then deleted with the support thread |
| Account | Until you delete it, or after 3 years without a login |
| Marketing list | Until you unsubscribe; we keep the unsubscribe itself so we don't email you by mistake |
| Support emails | 2 years after the last message |
| Analytics and advertising data | Up to 26 months, less where the tool allows |
| Fraud screening records | 3 years |
While a dispute or legal claim is open, the relevant records stay. After that, information is deleted or stripped of anything that identifies you.
Part 7: Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access what we hold about you, correct it, delete it (except records the law requires us to keep), receive a copy in a portable format, opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of your information, withdraw consent to marketing, appeal if we decline a request, and be treated the same whether or not you exercise these rights.
Nevada residents can review and request changes to the personal information we've collected through the site, and direct us not to sell their covered information, by emailing our designated request address. We respond within 60 days as Nevada law provides, and usually much sooner.
California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know the categories of information collected, used and disclosed in the past 12 months (Parts 1 and 5).
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Minnesota, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have substantially similar rights.
To make a request, email support@rubyandjuly.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We'll confirm it's you, usually by matching details from a recent order, and respond within 45 days; for complex requests we may take up to 45 more days and will tell you why. An authorized agent may act for you with written proof of authorization. There's never a charge.
Part 8: Security, children, links and changes
Security. Traffic to and from the store is encrypted with TLS. Card numbers never reach our systems, because payment is handled by a PCI DSS-certified processor. Access to customer data is limited to the people who need it and protected by two-factor authentication. No system is completely secure; if a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you without unreasonable delay, as Nevada law and the breach notification law of your own state require.
Children. The store is for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with COPPA, and we delete it if we learn we have.
Links. Links on our site, including carrier tracking pages and payment providers, lead to sites we don't control. This policy stops at our site.
Changes. We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The current version is always here, with the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we'll announce it on the site or by email before it takes effect.
